As girls will tell you, all the best things come with batteries and Toyota’s new supercar is no exception to the rule. The Volta is a hybrid-electric vehicle which has a battery mounted on each axle. The V6 petrol engine has a capacity of 3.3 litres and produces 402bhp. As you may well expect, the Japs have settle for nothing less than 155mph on the tacho and it can also sprint from 0-60 in four seconds.
Aside from the engine, there are various other innovative features such as a steering wheel that can be positioned on the left, right or even the centre, transmission is controlled by electronic CVT and the throttle and braking by wire. Rumour has it that it should be given production rights by 2007.
