New Brera S designed for British Roads
We’re a fussy bunch, us British enthusiasts but it pays to know what we want and to prove it, Alfa Romeo is delivering us just that; a stunning Italian designed Brera tuned by British Motorsport expert, Prodrive. Yes, we thought you’re ears may prick up at this one.
It’s taken a year of intensive testing to find the right spring rates, damping effect, steering imputs and ideal balance for the chassis but Prodrive and Alfa believe we’ll be very happy with the results. Their aim was to significantly improve driver involvement, inspire confidence and provide enjoyment for the avid British driver. Ride quality was just as important and so refinement has been key to this project. Prodrive Project Leader, Peter Cambridge, describes the car as something ”that ‘shrinks’ around the driver and delivers all the fun and engagement of a sports car driving experience on A and B-roads. Yet, on motorways, offers a compliant and composed ride.” Alfa has kept the two existing direct injection petrol engines; the 185 bhp 2.2 JTS and the 260 bhp 3.2 V6 JTS but has committed to keep the exclusivity down to just 500 models which will be individually numbered.
