2008 Audi RS6 Avant

If you’re jaw has not hit the deck yet then check your pulse as this has to be one of the most desirable saloons on the road today.
You may have to cancel Christmas this year though as it reaches showrooms in November and will see you short of £76,160 – ouch, love hurts! However you’re unlikely to feel short changed once you rev up its twin turbocharged 5.0-litre engine with its extensive refinements. It’s essentially an upgraded version of the 5.2-litre V10 FSI petrol engine which powers the S6 quattro. Such tweaks have seen a massive jump in power and now you can enjoy 580PS at 6,250rpm as well as 650Nm available from just 1,500rpm right through to 6,250rpm.
Marrying this powerplant to a revised six-speed tiptronic automatic transmission allows acceleration from 0-62mph in 4.5 seconds and a top speed of either 155mph or 175mph, depending on whether you pay the extra for the de-restriction package. On the combined cycle you’ll get 20.3mpg but you can’t expect miracles even with FSI technology. Quattro four-wheel-drive and Dynamic Ride Control (DRC) helps your RS6 stick to the road and handle a treat, you’ve also got 20 inch wheels to aid traction.
Audi has gained itself a reputation for exceptional interior design and finish and the RS6 Avant is set to uphold this with its combination of grippy leather and Alcantara upholstery. The sporty newcomer has also inherited that flat bottom steering wheel, aluminium-look pedals, milled finish door handles and boost pressure and oil temperature readouts. In case you don’t fancy keeping the interior so nice then there’s room for kids and 1,660-litres of luggage space.
