AUDI’S ROAD LEGAL RACE CAR
Following in the footsteps of Porsche, Ferrari and Aston Martin, Audi has developed a road legal race car for its driving fanatics.
The German manufacturer was shoe-horned in to making the R8 GT3 by a hoard of would-be buyers and looking at the end result, we bet they are pretty glad they were. Of course it will feature a mighty engine (500bhp at least) and the latest technology but it is also designed to be easy to pilot. Before the R8 Race car makes its debut on the track, customers will be able to pick up their road legal version from the dealers; the first batch will arrive this Autumn. A wider track at the front as well as a large rear wing is necessary to keep it grounded and there are very stringent guidelines to ensure its passive safety. Its suspension has been suitably tinkered with but almost all components come exclusively from the production line, you also get a newly developed six-speed sequential sports gearbox.
