It`s been a great start to the year for the French team with Loeb and Elena winning the opening Monte Carlo Rally and now the newbies winning the warm-up Finnskog Rally in Norway. |

The 403 hp, 300 mph Fisker Karma is a likely contender for Infiniti`s new EMERG-E range-extender concept car and next month`s Geneva Motor Show is to be its testing ground. If the crowd are hot for the new motor then Infiniti may be persuaded to add it to its future range which includes the Audi A4/BMW 3-Series-sized G Series compact due out in 2013 and the Audi A3/BMW 1-Series-sized compact vehicle announced for 2015. |

We know that the Lamborghini Estoque four door saloon concept is a fully operational prototype but photos of an apparently leaked Lamborghini SUV have given rise to speculation that this may launch first. The Italian press have run a story on a new Lamborghini 4X4 which they say will be unveiled at the Beijing Motor Show. According to the report by Quattroruote magazine, the new model will be a modern take on Lamborghini`s 1980s LM002 SUV and will use the Porsche Cayenne`s underpinnings. |

The 2011 Euro NCAP results are out and the Audi Q3, Chevrolet Aveo, Ford Focus, Mercedes B Class and Volvo V60 all received top marks in testing. There are four assessment areas and a car has to score highly in all of these if it is to get its full 5 stars. The Chevrolet Malibu, Mercedes M Class, Toyota Yaris, Lexus CT200h, Opel Zafira Tourer, Hyundai ix20, and BMW X1 also got the maximum stars possible and were close runners up to the five exceptional entrants.

The scaled down Mercedes CLS four-door coupe is the new trendy alternative to the Audi A3 saloon and BMW 1-Series coupe and will be unveiled late this year. Mercedes have taken out a heavily disguised version this winter to iron out any possible teething problems before us journalists get our mitts on it. The shape of the Mercedes BLS test vehicle only gives away its commitment to copy the F800 Style Concept`s bonnet and grille design.

Apparently we are just weeks away from a brand new Lamborghini sighting and the Geneva Show this March is tipped to be the viewing point. So what could Lamborghini add to the Aventador, LP700-4, Gallardo line-up? An Aventador Roadster with a carbon fibre retractable roof? There are claims press pictures of this have already been leaked. Or perhaps the production version of the Sesto Elemnto is ready for debut or a Gallardo concept previewed for launch in 2014?

Warranty Direct has just released a survey which could put a spanner in the works for new car buyers. Their research shows that some older models of popular cars are much more reliable than their new counterparts. In order to come up with the figures automotive specialist, Warranty Direct analysed 50,000 live policies over a 12 month period. On average among the 10 models with the greatest disparity in failure rates, newer variants are almost 10% more likely to break down than older cars. |

Next month a VOR 70 monohull sailboat (affectionately known as Maserati after its main sponsors) will be attempting the Cadiz-San Salvador speed record. The Skipper Giovanni Soldini and seven crew members will take the 3884 mile route across the North Atlantic from Spain to the Bahamas. Their boat will be the first Monohull to undertake this challenge; before it has only been trimarans (multihulled boats) so if they manage it, they will set a new speed record for this category. |
