The Saab marque had been around for sixty three years; the last few have undoubtably been troublesome but it wasn`t until this week that the owners filed for bankruptcy in Sweden.
When The Saab Automobile AV`s British division went into administration last month, it was inevitable their Swedish business would also go under. The UK market is Saab`s second largest in terms of sales and we have 58 dealerships of which 20 are solely dedicated to Saab`s. The bankruptcy came about due to Saab`s former owner and current shareholder, General Motors refusing to allow the Chinese automobile firm Youngman Lotus to finacially bolster Saab throughout its restructuring. Until the legal side of things are finalised it is unclear whether Saab will still honour warranty`s on their vehicles but there is also the option of customers applying to the small claims court for faults deemed to be the manufacturers.
