Renault-Nissan are hoping to top the sales charts in the Russian market and may even buy control of Russia`s largest automaker, AvtoVAZ to do this.
Renault-Nissan has already bought 25 per cent of AvtoVAZ in 2008 for $1 billion and now it may increase its controlling stake to 50 per cent plus one share. As well as being able to share production and suppliers costs by using the Lada brand, controlling the lion`s share of the company should also lead to consumer confidence in it. Russia is currently the most populated country in Europe and it is thought that in 2012 there will be more cars sold there than in France. If Renault-Nissan secure this deal in Russia then, it will have the monopoly with buyers before other European manufacturers.
