The North American International Auto Show is known for its flashy and creative concepts. This year Lexus takes the honours for the best concept car with its LF-LC motor and the manufacturer takes home an EyesOn Design Award for their trophy cabinet.
The annual award is judged by top automotive designers and design academics from around the world. They look for aesthetics and innovation, Concept implementation and functionailty as well as awarding cars that capture the Spirit of Industrial Design. The LF-LC concept was designed in California at the plant`s Calty studio. Their brief was a 2+2 coupe with an emotive and avant garde approach and having advanced technologies was also key. Although the LF-LC Concept is currently fictious, elements of it have sneaked their way into the GS 450h production car which also flaunts a spindle grille shape as well as the neat rear-end.
