Volvo is entering its new ethanol powered Volvo C30 racer in the WTCC (World Touring Car Championship) at Brands Hatch on the 26 - 27th of July. The car which has already acheived three out of seven pole positions in the Swedish Touring Car Championship (STCC) is the only ethanol E85 powered car in that series. Lamborghi has Cameo role in new Batman Movie
Back in 2005 we saw the jaw dropping Lamborghini Murciélago LP640 Coupe driven by super hero Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) in ‘Batman Begins.’ Well it looks like Gotham city is about to get a second installment of what this 640bhp beast has in store. ‘Dark Knight’ is currently being screened at UK cinemas; it was tipped to cost around £90m to make and £100m to market but is expected to rake in even more money at the box office than Spider Man which is not only great news for Christopher Nolan but also mega coverage for Lamborghini who may just attract some Bat Man wannabes.
This hardy little city car is Sukuzi’s bargin buy with prices starting at £8,999. It is built side by side the Vauxhall Agila - a would be rival however it creates its own identity in the market place with its unique lights, bonnet, bumper and grille. You can opt for a 1.2-litre petrol engine or 1.3-litre diesel, they are both twinned with a 5-speed manual gearbox and provide plenty of useable low-end torque. The versatility of this car is a big plus point and many buyers will be pleased with its rear folding seats and the taller cabin which gives you more room to stretch. Its safety equipment is also very reasurring and of course its pretty economical too. The alternatives include the Peugeot 107, Toyota Aygo, Renault Twingo and Ford Ka.
Not so Mini and twice as Green:
It’s cleaner living (109g/km) but promises to be just as fun to drive. The new Mini Clubman Cooper D will also be more economical (pushing 60mpg) as a combined average. It sports a 1.6-litre turbo-diesel engine and six speed manual gearbox and will cost you £15,400. The cabin is more spacious than the hatch and the boot will hold more luggage too. It’s out next year and will go up against the likes of the SEAT Ibiza ECOmotive, Polo Bluemotion, Skoda Fabia GreenLine and Toyota Prius.

This weekend (11th-13th July) Mitsubishi will be showing off two of its future models at the Festival Of Speed, in Goodwood. The first is the all-electric i-MEV Sport which uses three permanent magnetic synchronous motors to power the car, space frame technology to make the chassis light as well as strong and Super All Wheel Control (S-AWC) to give you the stability and handling you are used to with a Mitsubishi. The Japanese manufacturer has aimed to make it as green as possible to run and as well as being fume-free, it has regenerative braking, a photovoltaic generator on the roof and even heat absorbing glass to help power the air-con. The second is the concept cX which will showcase Mitsubishi’s 2009 Euro V compliant technologies which include a variable geometry (VG) turbocharger to generate optimum boost pressure for all engine loads, a DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) and DOC (Diesel Oxidation Catalyst). The baby Outlander as it Been nick-named also carries over the has Twin Clutch SST technology.
100,000 visitors took part in a poll on www.WRC.com to establish who is or was the Greatest Driver ever to compete in the championship. Citroen’s four-time WRC champion, Sebastien Loeb won hands down with 34,772 votes. Colin McCrae was second favourite followed by Walter Rohrl and Tommi Makinen. Frenchman, Loeb and his team mate Daniel Elena are currently second in the driver’s standings but there are still seven rallies to go, the next being in Fainland on 1-3 August. If Loeb makes up the points and drives like we all know he can then 2008 could be his fifth FIA World. Rally Championship win which would put him in the record books.
